In recent decades, the enormously expanded knowledge base regarding the physiology and pathophysiology of wound healing has led to the development of wound dressings which open up additional treatment options beyond the classic functions. For example hydroactive wound dressings can produce therapeutic effects, which deeply intervene in the wound healing process.
In view of the many different forms of wounds and wound states, it is obvious that one single wound dressing cannot meet all the therapeutic requirements. Therefore we carry not only classic wound dressings such as gauze and non-woven swabs as well as absorbent and ointment dressings but also hydroactive systems such as wound dressing pads with superabsorbers, calcium alginate dressings, foam dressings, hydrocolloid and hydrogel dressings. Furthermore, HARTMANN developed a fixing material, which superseded complex bandaging techniques due to its elastic, self-adhesive or cohesive properties a long time ago.
